About twenty minutes from our Norwich shop, and one of the busiest parts of our service area — shoreline neighborhoods, mid-century developments inland, and constant turnover around the base and Electric Boat.
Groton spreads from the water at Groton Long Point and Noank up through the inland neighborhoods built out for Navy and Electric Boat families. Two very different sets of roofing conditions in one town.
Groton Long Point, Noank, Eastern Point, and the shoreline neighborhoods take wind straight off Long Island Sound. Salt air and sustained wind are hard on roofing, and uplift resistance depends almost entirely on how the edges and starter course were installed.
Much of inland Groton was built through the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. Ranches, split-levels, and capes from that era are now well past the point where the original roof — and often the second one — has run out.
Porch and addition sections with low pitch are common on these homes and are frequently where leaks start. They need a different system than the main roof, not just more shingles.
Mid-century homes here often have minimal soffit venting and no ridge vent. That shortens roof life and drives ice damming in winter. We correct it during replacement rather than reinstalling the same problem.
Everything we do, we do here.
Permits: both the Town of Groton and the City of Groton have their own building departments. We handle permitting either way.
Groton has a lot of households on the move — PCS orders, short timelines, homes going on the market. We're used to it.
That means fast estimate turnaround, clear written scope for real estate transactions, and documentation that satisfies a buyer's inspector or a lender.
If you're selling and the roof came up on inspection, call us. We'll tell you honestly whether a repair satisfies the issue or whether replacement is the only thing that will close.
Tell us your closing date when you call. If we can't hit it, we'll say so up front rather than leaving you to find out late.

Raul and his team have gone above and beyond my expectations, even replacing my gutters along with my roof. I'm impressed with the professionalism and hard work by all the crew. They arrived on time and cleaned up like they weren't even there.
— Mallory Champagne, via GoogleRaul and his team replaced my roof in less than two full working days. They were timely in scheduling, professional, had great craftsmanship, and a fair price! They cleaned up upon completion and you wouldn't have known they removed a roof!
— Mitchell Smolen, via GoogleChristopher Home Improvement did a wonderful job on my roof and gutters. No more rain overflowing down the house. These guys were great — very fast and professional, with no mess left behind. The new roof looks great! They did my mother's house as well. She told me not to go with anyone else, and she was right.
— Melissa Laws, via GoogleYes, along with Groton Long Point, Poquonnock Bridge, and both the Town and City of Groton.
Usually within a few days. Faster for active leaks or a pending real estate closing.
Yes. Written scope, invoice, and warranty documentation for buyers, inspectors, or lenders.
Not inherently. The installation standard is higher, but that's how we install everywhere. Materials may differ if you want a higher wind rating, and we'll price the options.
